According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Health Disparities are measurable, preventable differences in health outcomes, disease burdens, or healthcare access between specific population groups.
Health disparities exist when some communities face a greater burden of disease or die earlier than others from conditions that could often be prevented through equitable access to resources and care. Health disparities may be observed in the risks, prevalence, or problems resulting from specific behaviors, as well as the incidence, prevalence, and mortality from conditions, diseases, and/or disorders.
